Horizon CoLab is one of the most ambitious additions ever introduced into Forza Horizon 6. It takes what players already knew from EventLab and expands it into something far more dynamic: a real-time, fully multiplayer creative sandbox where building, testing, and racing all happen together. Instead of designing alone and sharing later, players now create inside the same space at the same time.

This shift changes the tone of the entire game. Forza Horizon has always mixed racing with creativity, but Horizon CoLab pushes it into a shared world-building experience where ideas evolve instantly through collaboration.

Real-Time Co-Op Creation

At its core, Horizon CoLab works as a next-generation version of EventLab, but rebuilt for live multiplayer interaction.

One of the biggest changes is the ability for up to 12 players to join a single creative session. In these sessions, everyone can place objects, adjust terrain, design routes, and immediately test how everything feels on the road. Instead of one creator iterating slowly, you get a group constantly refining ideas in real time.

Another major upgrade is freedom of placement. Earlier tools often limited creativity to specific zones or track boundaries. In Horizon CoLab, players are no longer boxed in. Entire sections of the Japanese-inspired open world can be transformed, whether that means building drifting playgrounds in mountain regions or designing street circuits through dense urban districts.

The scale is also significantly larger. Players can now construct massive environments that feel almost like new festival hubs. Some groups focus on realistic recreations of car culture meets, while others build completely fictional mini-cities or experimental race environments that would never exist in the base world.

Social Progression and Shared Spaces

Horizon CoLab is not just about building tracks. It is tightly connected to the social systems that define Forza Horizon 6.

Anything created in CoLab can be published instantly. This means a race built by a small group of friends can become part of the global content ecosystem within minutes. The community continuously feeds off itself, constantly remixing and improving new ideas. As a result, the game world feels more alive over time, not less.

The feature also blends naturally with car culture activities across the map. Custom CoLab creations can connect directly with open-world meetups, drifting zones, and time attack events. A player might design a drift course in CoLab and then immediately see it used in a live multiplayer car meet later the same day.

The system even extends into player housing and garage spaces. Collaborative design is not limited to racing layouts. Friends can visit each other’s customized estates, share garage setups, and exchange visual designs like liveries and interior layouts. It creates a loop where creativity flows between driving, building, and social interaction.

Availability and Accessibility

Horizon CoLab is available as part of the full experience in Forza Horizon 6 across Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and Microsoft Store, with day-one support through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. A later release on PlayStation 5 is planned for 2026.

Accessibility also plays an important role in the feature’s design. Tools such as proximity radar improvements, high-contrast visual modes, and optional driving assists like AutoDrive ensure that more players can participate in community creations regardless of skill level. This makes Horizon CoLab less about competition and more about shared participation.

A Shift Toward Shared Creativity

What Horizon CoLab ultimately represents is a shift in how racing games define creativity. Instead of treating custom content as something separate from the main experience, it integrates creation directly into the multiplayer world.

In Forza Horizon 6, building a track is no longer a solo project. It is a social event. And driving through those creations is no longer just gameplay—it is part of an ongoing conversation between thousands of players shaping the world together.
