Post subject: | Window glass |
Hi all, many congratulations on this mod, I love it !!! Being a bit of a try-hard artist, I am having difficulty in getting the glass to appear looking like glass. I have had experience with glass before (although, I could only get the glass on the V8SC's to work) & am finding I can get everything to appear, but the glass seems too clear & I can't seem to get the vents in the rear side glass to appear. I think it's got something to go in the alpha layer, but I am unsure as to where to look, or what to do. Finally, is it possible to get the Australian Cup car banner on the cars, as while we see the reverse of it from the cockpit, I don't see it available in the template ? I am using Adobe CS2 if that helps. see below images Many thanks. |

With the templates is a window BMP as an examlple of what the windows alpha channel should typically look like. I am not an expert at this but I believe the trick is to create your window, and select all the parts you want to have one level of transparency. Then click on channels tab and delete the existing alpha channel, then create a new layer, it should by default be alpha 1. click on that channel then with a brush or the fill tool paint it a shade of grey. The shade of grey you choose will decide the amount of transparency. You can then select other parts of your window and give them different amounts of transparency by again painting on the alpha channel. Once done you need to save the file as a DXT5 (with interpolated alpha). Hope that helps a little. |
